Pack Of Lies

by Hugh Whitemore

A true story of lies, betrayal and Soviet KGB spies !

People living in the quiet London suburb of Ruislip in early March of 1961 would have told you that nothing much ever happened there. But when it emerged that their charming "Canadian" neighbours, Peter and Helen Kroger, at 45 Cranley Drive were in fact KGB spies sending vital secrets to the Soviets, it send shock waves through the community that were set to rip their lives apart!

This was the height of the cold war, and WW2 was still recent history. When the Krogers were arrested, MI5 found damning evidence including codes, ciphers and even a KGB expenses sheet! Years later a second radio was found buried in the garden!

This play is about the impact of this extraordinary episode upon the lives of the neighbours, as their decent happy life was shattered by the truth about their friends.
