Work, love and life are just one long, hard slog for the fish-filleting
foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda. But their fortunes are set to
change when Linda finds tickets to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot the year
it relocated to York.
Out go the hairnets, overalls and wellies as the four ditch work, do
themselves up to the nines and head off to the races for a drink, a
flirt and a flutter.
‘With its Yorkshire heart and soul it
has all the warmth of a Calendar Girls or a Full Monty’
Yorkshire Post.

| A word
from the Director |
|
(reproduced from the performance programme) |
|

When I read 'Ladies
Day' I laughed out loud. It has to be an exceptional script
to make me do that. This is a well written, very funny, yet,
in places, poignant play. It has been a pleasure to rehearse
and see it come together, with a talented and hardworking
cast and production team headed by producer Jo Dobbs.
My thanks to all those
people involved who have contributed their work and ideas to
the show, and thank you to all of you for coming to Ladies'
Day.
